Alloy surcharge

The Alloy surcharge (VEA) is added to the base price and reflects the true raw material purchase cost included in the various steels produced by Erasteel.

Published quarterly, each grade surcharge results from the addition of the extras for main alloying elements, namely W, Mo, V, Co, Cr, Nb and scrap.
The alloy surcharge is based on the official quotations above a reference price, minus the reference price. The calculation is made by the SPAS, an external body, and is based on Metal Bulletin and Eurostat average values.
